On display at the Israel Museum is "On the Map: The Map of Israel as Illustration, Artwork, and Icon," an exhibition in which you'll see such varied items as a pencil case, a package of cookies, and the blue box of the Jewish National Fund. Common denominator? All display illustrations of the map of Israel. All of the maps on display have a fine-art aspect, an illustrative aspect - adding personal artistic interpretation - and an iconic aspect. The wealth of images in this exhibition stretches the limits of Israel's map, allowing us to take a considered, personal, new look at this very familiar sight.
