"Machavo'im" (Hiding Spaces or Hide-and-Seek) is Oded Balilty's current photography exhibition at the Jerusalem Artists House. Alex Libek is the curator. The exhibit features works from Balilty's long stay in Beijing, China, during the preparations for the Olympics, where Balilty worked as a photographer for the A.P. The ever changing landscape and new buildings that pop up daily were a sign to Balilty of the destruction and forsaking of the local fabric and culture, for the sake of a desperate desire to be like the West. The contrast that is clear in his works--colors, subject and background, reality and imagination--paints a surrealistic picture which expresses, in a roundabout way, the reality of life for the people who live there.

Balilty won the Pulitzer Prize for modern photography in 2007.
